Not sure which option to choose? This guide explains what comes with each lyric video pack and when the additional production files are useful.

The simplest option is a full lyric video: press play and the whole song is ready to go. But churches often change arrangements, repeat choruses, extend bridges, use ultra-wide LED screens or place lyrics over live cameras. That is where lyric alphas, background layers and loops become useful.

They are not four copies of the same thing. Each file gives your production team a different level of control.

What is a full lyric video?

A full lyric video is the finished version. The background, animation and lyrics have already been combined and timed to the released recording.

This is the best choice when:

• Your church is using the original song arrangement

• You want the quickest setup possible

• Your production team wants one file to trigger

• You do not need to change the visual design or lyric placement

Import it into your presentation or playback software, line it up with the track and play it from the beginning.

The trade-off is that everything is baked into the video. If your worship team repeats the bridge, removes a verse or turns the song into a mash-up, the original video will no longer match without being re-edited.

What is a background layer?

A background layer is the visual from the lyric video without any lyrics on top.

It gives you the same overall design while leaving your production team free to add lyrics separately. For example, you could use the clean background in ProPresenter and place your church’s usual lyric theme over it.

This is useful when:

• Your church regularly changes song arrangements

• You want to use your own font, lyric layout or translation

• You need different lyrics on different screens

• Your LED wall is an unusual shape or resolution

• You want to create a custom edit without having to remove existing text

For a standard 16:9 screen, a full lyric video may already be all you need. For an ultra-wide LED wall, a clean background is often easier to work with because it can be cropped, scaled or placed inside a screen-specific canvas before the lyrics are added.

ProPresenter provides several media scaling options, including Scale to Fit and Scale to Fill. For a more controlled result—especially on a very wide screen—it is usually better to build the content at your screen’s native aspect ratio rather than simply stretching a 16:9 video.

What is a lyric alpha?

A lyric alpha is the animated lyric portion of the video with a transparent background.

Think of it like a sheet of glass: the words and their animation are visible, but the space around them is transparent. You can place that layer over:

• The supplied background

• A different visual

• A camera feed

• IMAG footage

• A custom LED-wall composition

• Another video made for your event or series

This lets you keep the designed typography and animation from the original lyric video while changing what appears behind it.

A lyric alpha is not editable lyric text

This distinction matters. A lyric alpha is still a rendered video file. You cannot click into it and rewrite the lyrics, change the font or automatically rearrange the song.

It also follows the timing of the original video. If your band changes the arrangement, the alpha will need to be cut and rearranged in video-editing software to match. If you want complete live flexibility, using the background loops with lyrics created natively in ProPresenter may be the simpler workflow.

Why does the file look black when I preview it?

Some ordinary video players display transparent areas as black. That does not necessarily mean the transparency is missing. Import the file into software that supports its alpha-enabled format and place another visual beneath it to test it properly.

For example, ProPresenter supports alpha-enabled codecs including ProRes 4444 and HAP Alpha, according to its supported file-types guide. Always check the format supplied with the specific pack and confirm that your chosen playback or editing software supports it.

What is a loops pack?

A loop is a short video designed so that its final frame flows back into its first. When looping is enabled, it can continue playing without an obvious jump.

There are two common kinds of worship loops, and they solve different problems.

Ambient visual loops

Ambient loops are general motion backgrounds used during moments such as:

• Pre-service

• Giving

• Communion

• Prayer and reflection

• Post-service

Song-section loops

The loops included with a lyric-video pack are usually designed around parts of that specific song—for example, an intro, verse, chorus or bridge.

Instead of playing one fixed video from beginning to end, your operator can trigger the visual for the section the band is currently playing. If the worship leader repeats the chorus, the chorus visual can continue. If the bridge is extended, the bridge loop can keep running until the band moves on.

Section loops are especially useful for:

• Repeating a chorus or bridge

• Extending a ministry moment

• Changing the order of a song

• Building a medley or mash-up

• Using the song’s visual identity with live lyrics

Loops give you flexibility in the background, but they do not normally contain timed lyrics. You will usually combine them with lyrics built in your presentation software, or with an edited lyric alpha if you want to retain the original animated typography.

How would I use these assets for a changed arrangement?

There are two sensible approaches.

Option 1: Run it live

Use the section loops as media backgrounds and build the lyrics normally in ProPresenter or your preferred presentation software.

This is generally the most flexible Sunday-to-Sunday workflow. Your operator follows the band, triggers the appropriate background and advances the lyrics independently. If the worship leader repeats a section unexpectedly, nothing needs to be re-rendered.

Option 2: Create a custom video edit

For a planned mash-up, conference opener or tightly programmed event:

1. Finalise the audio arrangement first.

2. Build the new visual timeline using the supplied background layer and section loops.

3. Cut and rearrange the lyric alpha to match the new structure.

4. Position everything inside a canvas built for your actual screen resolution.

5. Export and test the finished video with the same playback system used at the event.

This takes more preparation, but it preserves the full designed look while giving you control over the arrangement and screen layout.

Which pack should my church choose?

Choose Full Video Only if you want the original arrangement ready to play with the least setup.

Choose Full Video + Loops Pack if you want the finished video but would also like the option to run section-based backgrounds with your own live lyrics.

Choose Full Video + Lyric Alpha + Background Layer if the arrangement will remain mostly fixed, but you need more control over the background, cameras, lyric placement or screen format.

Choose Full Video + Lyric Alpha + Background Layer + Loops Pack if your team creates custom edits, works with unusual screen layouts or regularly adapts arrangements.

The largest pack is not automatically the right one. If your team simply wants to trigger a finished video, the extra production files may add complexity you do not need. If your arrangements change often, however, the additional layers can turn one fixed lyric video into a much more flexible toolkit.

One final note about audio

Talesoft downloads contain the visual files, not the commercially released song audio. This means your church will need to supply and synchronise its own licensed audio where required.

The full video gives you speed. The production layers give you control. The right choice depends on how your church actually runs worship—and how much flexibility your production team genuinely needs.
